are now available on our preschool website. The policy intention in all the
documents
remains the same however we have taken the opportunity to include additional guidance where we have received requests to do so. As part of this work, we have taken the opportunity to revise the Registration and Suitability preschool handbook substantially. This handbook sets out what we do when we receive an application from someone to register on the
Childcare
Register. It describes how we consider and decide on the suitability of applicants to provide childcare services, and how we manage the registration of those already registered when changes occur. Please ensure that you familiarise yourselves with the new version of this handbook and apply it to your registration work. I am sure you are aware that the

Department for Education

(DfE) has begun a review of the Preschool Early Years Foundation Stage. The first part of the review is a `call for evidence'. A small group of inspectors, team managers and policy colleagues have met to help collate Ofsted's response to the DfE, considering our inspection and regulation evidence to see where providers have been able to meet the requirements of the E.Y. Preschool Foundation Stage well and where they have had difficulties in doing so. We also considered whether any aspects of the Stage caused us difficulties as a regulator. We have written to inspectors and team managers to invite them, if there is an

opportunity

to do so, to discuss some key questions with members of their team and to send in their responses.
